6 Normandy Heights Road, Morristown, NJ 07960

Next meeting:  October 25

Lehigh and New England Logo

Will feature a special program by historian and photographer Rich Taylor about the long lost Lehigh & New England Railroad,
One of New Jersey's least-known of the heavy coal-hauling railroads.

Connecting the anthracite fields of Pennsylvania with New England, the L&NE threaded its way through the northwest New Jersey hills
on its own main line and some of that of the New York, Susquehanna & Western, also crossing Lackawanna's Sussex Branch along the way.

Rich's program will show the trains, facilities and operations from the perspective of an active railfan who saw the railroad cease in the 1960s.

The Tri-State equipment committee saved and restored one of the significant pieces of the L&NE, Caboose 580 in Whippany,
the first built of the five steel cabooses on the L&NE.

***  October begins our annual election process for officers and expiring director's positions. ***

Most meetings will be on the fourth Tuesday of the month, but the week of the month will be inconsistent at first due to previous theater obligations.  The weeks should become more consistent with time.

The Morris Museum's new expansion is now open.  Hours are 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.  More details are available on the Morris Museum's web site.

We hope that those who haven't been to a meeting in a while will come see the new home and enjoy the larger presentations.  We look forward to seeing you there.
