Tri-State Members’ Day
Sunday, June 26, 2022 - 10 AM to 3 PM
The Morristown & Erie Railway, Inc. will host the Tri-State Railway Historical Society, Inc. for a Tri-State Members’ Day on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at the historic Whippany Station! This private event is open to all Tri-State members (and up to two guests) whose membership dues are current for 2022.
The event will include:
Tri-State’s Morristown & Erie ALCo C424 No. 19 will be in attendance! After being stored in Boonton for several years, in operable condition, No. 19 hits the road!
Tri-State’s restored Lackawanna No. 896 and L&NE No. 580 cabooses will be in Whippany for short train rides throughout the day, pulled by M&E 19!
We will offer a catered lunch of sandwiches, snacks, and soft drinks for members and guests. Exciting updates will be shared during a lunchtime presentation.
M&E 19 and cabooses DL&W 896 and L&NE 580 will be available for tours and photo opportunities at the Whippany Station.
Event itinerary:
10 AM: Attendees will check-in at the historic Whippany Station.
10:30 AM - 12 PM: Short train rides will be offered from the Whippany Station aboard cabooses DL&W 896 and L&NE 580, pulled by M&E 19.
12 PM - 1 PM: A catered lunch will be served on the Whippany Station grounds. Tri-State leadership will share updates about the group with the membership.
12 PM - 2 PM: M&E 19 and cabooses DL&W 896 and L&NE 580 will be parked at the Whippany Station for photos. Tours of the equipment will be offered between 1 and 2 PM.
2 PM - 3 PM: Short train rides will be offered from the Whippany Station aboard DL&W 896 and L&NE 580, pulled by M&E 19.
Parking: All attendees must park in the gravel lot located behind the CVS at 410 Route 10, Whippany, NJ 07981. Attendees can then walk behind the Whippany Village Apartments to the Whippany Station. Attendees are not permitted to park at the Presbyterian Church or at the dentist office next to the station. Anyone parking in a location other than the gravel lot behind the CVS may have their vehicle towed at their own expense.
NOTE: This is a private event open only to Tri-State members whose dues are current for 2022. To inquire about your membership status, please contact Tom Scheffer at membership@tristaterail.org. New members may join our ranks at tristaterail.org/join. Members are permitted to purchase their own ticket and additional tickets for up to two invited guests. Attendees will be asked to present their tickets upon arrival and be given a wristband for train rides and lunch.

All guests must be accompanied by a member. Attendees will be provided souvenir wristbands upon check-in at the event to ensure all persons present are eligible to participate.
