Monthly Meeting - Tri-State Presents: The Voice Behind The Railroad

The Voice Behind The Railroad
Presented by Bernie Wagenblast

When it comes to railroads the sounds we often associate with them are things such as the roar of an Alco, the chimes of a locomotive or a the bell at a grade crossing. But what about the voices of the railroad? Those updates that tell us when the next train is arriving, what's the next stop or the dreaded delay announcement. Bernie Wagenblast will give us an inside scoop on what goes into providing these recorded messages which have become part of our daily commute.

Bernie Wagenblast is a former radio traffic reporter and voice actor. She's best known as one of the announcers on the New York City subway system, but also is the voice of AirTrain Newark, PATCO and the PATH customer service line, among others. In recent years she has used those talents to play the train conductor in a TV show, plays and the Warriors album written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis.
